Some final info
to get you ready for the wedding.
This information primarily applies to those staying at Boreland.
1) BRING FOOD AND DRINK
Basic rations are provided: we will be stocking each lodge with tea, coffee, cows milk, bread, butter and biscuits. But you will want to add to that:
Bring plenty of drinks (alcoholic or other). You will want them for Friday and perhaps after the bar closes (at 11:30pm) on Saturday.
Bring food for dinner on Friday night
Bring extra bits for breakfast on Saturday / Sunday
Bring late night snacks
You can always take stuff home, so bring enough!
The lodges have proper kitchens with fridges, hobs, pots etc.
If you are super keen to eat out on Friday, there are a few options at Aberfeldy, Kenmore, Taymouth and Killin. All involve driving. It might be nicer to cook something simple and just chill onsite.
2) WHERE ARE THE SHOPS?
You may want to purchase the aforementioned food and drinks on your way to Boreland. There are decent CoOp supermarkets in both Aberfeldy and Killin. Check which one is on the way for you. There is also a great Deli shop at Kenmore, just a few minutes drive from Boreland.
Note - there is nothing available onsite or walkable. It is a short drive to Kenmore or Aberfeldy if you need anything!
3) IRONS AND HAIRDRYERS
Yes, there are irons and hairdryers on site to make sure we are all looking super sharp. Unfortunately there is not a set in every lodge, so we will just have to share (sorry!). My advice is get the ironing done on the Friday, so your lovely outfit is hanging up ready to go on the day!
4) ARRIVING AT BORELAND
You are welcome onsite from 3:30pm on Friday 23rd. Barry and his dad Gerry will point you towards your lodge. No need to go to reception, they will have no clue.
Since we have a full site buyout and the location is remote / safe, we do not plan to issue keys for the lodges. The doors will just be left unlocked, it will just be easier with so many people sharing. If this is an issue for you, let us know.
5) HOT TUBS, BRING YOUR SWIMMERS
We have hired two hot tubs: at the Farmhouse and Schiehallion lodge. Anyone is welcome to use them, don’t be shy! Some of the other lodges have hot tubs, if the group in your lodge would like to hire one, they are available for £125 for the weekend. Just let us know ASAP and we will arrange.
For the more adventurous, you could also take a walk down to the Loch for a cold water swim and then warm up in the hot tub after.
6) WEDDING KICK OFF TIME
The wedding starts at 1pm on Saturday. So please assemble in the general area shortly before that!
7) WATER AND SUNCREAM
Yes, its Scotland so who knows if it will be sunny!! But on the assumption it is, the ceremony will be outside. You could be sitting outside for a while so we recommend bringing a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated. We will not be supplying any drinks until after the ceremony ends (2pm).
And don’t forget to slap on a bit of suncream too!
8) CHECK OUT
Check out from the lodges on Sunday is 10:30am sharp. We will be hanging around and packing up onsite until 12:00pm, so feel free to do the same (and help LOL). But thereafter we need to be off site, as there is another wedding party arriving.
9) SHOULD I BRING A GIFT?
Just to reiterate, we are not expecting people to bring gifts. Your time, effort and expense to attend is more than enough! We are just so happy you will all be there.
You can write us a card, there is even going to be a really nice box for putting them in. And if you really, really, really do want to give us a gift, then you can pop them on the table next to the card box. Unless its a car or speed boat, in which case just leave in the car park.
WELL DONE IF YOU ARE STILL READING THIS.
Hopefully that is all the info you need. Check out the other pages on the site too! If you have any questions, please get in touch with Barry, Eilidh or Lindsey.
See you all soon! xxx
